Durability was the primary concern for casework being installed at Denver International Airport. With the facility in use 24 hours a day, the casework must withstand heavy use. TMI Systems Design Corporation's casework was selected for all United Airlines operations areas, including the heavily trafficked pilot center and gate counters. Within the pilot center, hundreds of pilots come and go every day, obtaining weather briefings and preparing flight plans. The casework in this area is built to withstand the constant interaction with people. It features matched 3mm polyvinylchloride edging and matched epoxy powder coated hinges and wire pulls. The United Airlines gate counters and back walls were produced in United's corporate colors of blue, gray, and red, and were wrapped in brushed stainless steel. This architectural woodwork, like the TMI-produced panels behind DIA's drinking fountains, was built to stand up and maintain an attractive appearance amidst one of the busiest airports in America. Perhaps the toughest durability challenge, however, is levied upon casework in the mechanics and ground crew areas. The outstanding performance and durability of TMI casework was chosen by United Airlines in these areas, including the large United hangar which holds up to seven jetliners.
