Founded in 1969

Trimline Manufacturing was founded in 1969 by Larry R. Strand with the acquisition of the Hauck Millwork Company assets in Dickinson, North Dakota. The name was later shortened to TMI, and a vision was born to provide laminated casework products across the United States. The addition of TMI Transport Corporation in 1973 to deliver our products to their final destinations completed our early business development.

FINANCIAL STRENGTH

One of TMI's four primary business strategies is to do business from a position of financial strength. TMI maintains a strong conservative balance sheet which allows the company to enjoy supportive relationships with its vendors, bankers, and customers. It is our strong balance sheet that brings financial stability to TMI during times of economic volatility.

TMI's financial strength provides the foundation for its investments in people and technology.

A LEADERSHIP TRANSITION

Following a tragic loss of our founder in 1984, TMI was purchased by a group of TMI employees led by Dennis Johnson. Dennis had joined TMI in 1974 as Factory Industrial Engineer and was serving as President of TMI at the time of Larry's death. Under Dennis' leadership TMI became a leading manufacturer of laminate casework products. Dennis continues to service TMI as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors.

GROWTH YEARS

Factory additions were completed in 1973, 1987 and again in 1992, with additions to the office space completed in 1988 and 1996. In 1998 TMI completed the construction of a new Architectural Woodwork facility, adding a Countertop factory to the same building in 1999.

Today the TMI campus consists of nearly 150,000 square feet of production space and 30,000 square feet of office space. The TMI office and factories are modern, attractive and state-of-the-art facilities.

MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY

From the first CAD drafting station purchased in 1984, to the European manufacturing equipment found in our factory, and the German engineered configurator software that is the core of our engineering processes, technology permeates all aspects of TMI.

Touring TMI today you'll see leading edge European manufacturing technology in our IMA (German) edgebanding and CNC machining cells, Schelling (Austria) and Giben (Italy) beam saws, Homag (German) edgebanding, and Weeke (German) CNC machining cells.

CONTINUED GROWTH

In May, 1999 Dennis Johnson named Dean Rummel the third President of TMI. Dean joined TMI in 1980 as a staff accountant. Under the leadership of Dennis and Dean, TMI has enjoyed record setting years in revenue, profits and backlog strength.

Education markets continue to grow, and healthcare and laboratory markets are surging. With consolidated sales exceeding $50 million in 2008, a strong business plan, financial stability, and a dedicated hard working staff, TMI is well positioned to remain the leader in the institutional laminate casework marketplace.
